The Road to States!

As you can tell, it's the day after States, aka, gymnastics season is over & I am actually sitting down enjoying my coffee at HOME vs. in the car en route to practice. HA! I never would have thought that nearly 15 years ago when I had to leave the sport of gymnastics those words would ever be coming out of my mouth again. Deep down I do love them though ;)

We didn't have our best District meet this year, in fact it was our worst meet to date, but sometimes you'll have that. Sadly in gymnastics there is no defense, so you just have to show up and be your best that day for it to really count {and any other team can have their best day when you have your worst and all of the meets before that day that you beat them no longer count}. Total bummer, incredibly unfortunate when you're balancing on a 3 inch wide beam, but true. Kilbourne had a great Districts and took the lead leaving us in 2nd, and again at States we didn't have our best meet with a fall on beam, (3) yes, three falls on floor (insane, literally never happens), but had a killer vault and bars rotation. Although, after floor there was no recovering and we finished 8th. Either or, they had a great season and we're proud of them. That's really all that matters in high school gymnastics and that's why it's so much more fun than club! HA! You can actually brush things off and have a little bit of fun.

Here are some shots of us during States and the week leading up to it, painting the rock and having some fun with Senior tradition of signing a part of the floor at last practice.

Some of the parents surprising everyone (another tradition) as we loaded the bus for States!! Seriously, the cutest.

And afterwards, for some brews with Mentor's coaches and Judge Jill (Julie's sister) having some fun and letting off some steam.

Here's to the conclusion of another GymRocks season! Until next year....

xoxo,
Andi
