DC to see the Garee's {a new family of 3}!!

Last weekend I flew into D.C for a nice, relaxing extended weekend stay. D.C {Georgetown} has quickly become one of my favorite places to visit; not only due to the lovely Garee fam, but because the city is so darn charming. The cobblestone streets, beautiful row homes & many restaurants and shops, I really feel like I can stroll the streets of Georgetown for hours. Like NYC, the brownstone style homes make you think of being 'Single in The City' and all the excitement of discovering that those times bring. I usually run when I'm in town and check out the sights, but this trip was centered solely around veging around with little miss 3 week old Evelyn. Not sure I could have squeezed her enough!!

It's amazing how many hours can go by staring at this sweet little girl. I give my hat off to her Mom {all breast feeding moms for that matter}! All the cluster feeding & growth spurts, it's pretty safe to say Steph started to feel like a dairy farm one of the days of non. stop. feeding. I have always assumed I too would breast feed one day, but it sure is constant work! Makes you think twice-Go Moms!!

Prior to the trip, Steph mentioned that she hasn't been out really & feared a but of feeding in public places {or inabilities to feed in public places} and how challenging its been with Ev not on a schedule so young. I didn't want to push anything, but encouraged a trip out to give it a go, and all did great! It was a hot walk, so that proved to be a challenge, but she did well at brunch & was even a little fashionista in her new outfit from her Auntie {tutu + Cute like My Auntie} duh.

Those dimples! I die! I had such a nice trip being in D.C to meet Lil' Miss & to try and help out a bit around the house {Jas is on point & winning husband of the year with all of his help/cleaning done already} and look forward to their next trip to Ohio!! Hoping soon enough we'll be helping them unpack their things in Ohio, for good :)

Until next time....

Xoxo!!

Happy 35th Mom & Dad!

7/6/76

The day my parents got married, 35 years ago. Thirty five years. Wow.

Let me preface this next statement, by saying that they are wonderful parents, and I grew up in a very loving home. I did not however, grow up with PDA parents who seemed to openly love eachother and communicate well. More often than not they had a tough time communicating reasonably (at low decibals) with eachother. I remember times, as a little girl especially, where I would yell back at them "just stop yelling and get a divorce already" their arguements would get so heated. Now, as an adult, and a married one at that, I've learned that we all communicate differently with eachother along the way. While I'm not a yeller, or a fighter, I am passionate about my marriage and husband. I can see now that this is just the way that they expressed that.

They have taught me the importance of commitment. To keep going, never quitting or giving up on eachother. So many people give up, or think the grass is greener on the other side when it most definitely is not. I'm glad that I've had such wonderful role models in my parents, who made that  commitment 35 years ago and have honored it through good times and bad.

Happy Anniversary you crazy high school sweethearts, who noticed eachother based on "his hot '69 Camero" and "her hot legs in those short skirts". Cheers!

WE'RE IN CONTRACT & Happy 4th!

.....we have a close date people! In just a few short weeks we will be handing over our keys to 'The Posey Family' and driving away in our Uhaul to our temporary housing {an apartment that is yet to be determined} until our home is built in Dayton.

I cannot believe it's happening so fast!! Barely 6 weeks ago he accepted the position and we move in 2 weeks, how's that for FULL THROTTLE?!! Wild. We put a deposit down on a lot in Springboro, and are looking in one other neighborhood in Centerville before pulling the trigger on a home but we're getting close. As stated before, Dayton doesn't have a ton of land for building, and has very little inventory of homes on the market-- if they are they are VERY OLD and need alot of work-- so I guess it makes the decision that much easier. Aka, there isnt much to work with. I'm okay with that. The less on my plate possible right now, the better. Before we know it, we'll be unloading our things into the new home. At the speed life has been going lately, we'll blink and it'll be closing time. Now, lets just hope our tenure there is longer than the 1 year spent here. I'm not sure that I have it in me to do this building/moving many more times in this lifetime!! HA! "This too shall pass".....

The lot in Beck Ridge that backs up to a beautiful nature preserve that we have a hold on, love all the greenspace!

Other exciting recent happenings include, Sarah and Sehul's engagement ceremony in Cleveland!! We had a BLAST! So much love in the Indian culture and in this ceremony, we really are looking forward to their wedding next year {especially because I get to wear a Sari}. So bright and beautiful in every way, we are so happy for the two of them. It was an honor to be invited to this very special day of theirs.

all the beautiful colors in the Sari's... love!

Neelay and Sehuls studly duds

Next up, 4th of July fireworks at Uncle Marty's House!! My Dad's side of the family (although he and Mom were away at the Smokey Mountains celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary) had a big BBQ in Sunbury and we watched the fireworks at his house. We got to see all of our wonderful family, as well as this little nephew nugget of mine. Prince Issac in his mini sized fold out chair...

.....being spoiled by his Great-Papaw Carty by the ultimate Carty-Curse, SWEETS! I havent met a Carty without a sweet tooth. Those tippy toes, I die. Boy sure knows how to get what he wants....

We also got to meet our baby cousin, Spencer Carty who was only 4 days old. My Uncle David (late 30's) and his wife (early 30's) just had him, and he's a total doll. Love tiny little sleeping newborns...

Hope you all had a joyous holiday with your families and ate LOTS OF FOOD (we sure did-ugh) and made some time appreciating how fortunate we are to live in the good ol' U.S. of A!

Oh Happy Day! Welcome to the world, Miss Evelyn Kate!

...Little Miss Evelyn Kate has arrived!! And oh my goodness is she a dollface!! Mother and babe are doing well at Georgetown University Hospital, awaiting their send off home. Sweet Evie is in the NICU as she's just a wee little peanut {just under 5 lbs} and they are making sure she's stable and gaining weight before this can happen. I wish I were there desperately and CANNOT wait until they are settled and welcoming guests to come meet their new little bundle. I mean, isn't she a doll?!

i just love how sweet this picture is

"what's up world"?!

just discovering her new world...

It's amazing to see your best friends become mothers and begin this journey creating memories with their little ones. I look forward to being part of Evie's years to come <3

In other exciting news, WE HAVE AN OFFER ON OUR HOUSE! Yay!! {does happy dance} They just put their home on the market in Bexley, so it's contingent upon theirs selling, but for now, they have offered full asking price with a 15 day timeframe to hold the exclusive offer in order to give their home the chance to sell. Very exciting as it has only been 2 weeks since Blair accepted the offer and I listed it 'For Sale By Owner'. Don't want to jinx it, so blogging is always a good way to get it off my chest without going agro on the social media platforms. Cross your fingers and pray to the heavens, so we can truly begin looking for our soon-to-be home in our new town. I'll have this building/designing thing down pat in no time if we keep this relocating every year up.... sigh ;)

Happy Weekend All!!

On the Move!

I think I've avoided blogging as of late for the mere fact that my mind is too exhausted to even formulate the fact that.... we are moving again... yes, again. Beh. It's for a good cause, as Blair got a great offer & promotion in Kettering, OH to coach the Fairmont Firebirds. I can't say that he doesn't deserve it and that I'm not proud of him, because I am. Immensely. The amount of time and effort and passion that coaches put into the game and time taken away from family and friends is only known by those close to a coach. Not to toot my own horn, but I applaud any woman who can manage/handle/put up with being a 'Coaches Wife'.

We aren't like 'surgeons wives' or 'doctors wives' because unless you're married to the Rick Pitino's or Urban Meyer's of the world, most coaches don't make the income that doctor's wives do. And let me tell ya, I could handle my husband being away all the time ALOT easier if I were posted up in a spa, shopping 24/7, or crying in a Porche! ;) But unfortunately, coaches and teachers (in my opinion) are so under-appreciated. So, the fact that this opportunity came along, to coach at one of the best, if not the best high facilities in the state of Ohio for a large pay increase? We jumped on it! No brainer. Ok, well I pushed Blair {who is incapable of change} to jump on it, and then freaked out {on the inside} when it actually panned out. He doesn't know that I'm freaking out, as I'm good at playing the opposite of whatever energy surrounds me to make a balance, but trust, there will come a time when I'm sitting in Dayton, OH with no friends or family near me to distract during season and have a melt down. It's going to eventually hit me when I'm done planning a move and flooring it full throttle ahead to ensure all of this goes as smoothly as possible. Maybe not, maybe I will be perfectly fine---time will tell.

So, our house is up for grabs. On a positive note, this time when we build we can do everything we didnt do with this house that we wished we would have (do I sound convincing? ehhh, I tried)!! I hope we find a lot and a builder that we love as much as our lot and home now.

He's got his work cut out for him at the school, but I believe this is going to be such a great opportunity for him to prove to the industry just how talented of a coach he is and that he was willing to step into a position to rebuild a program from the bottom up; without being at his alma matter. I'm really excited to see him shine and to be a part of a new community and program.

In the words of my fave man Van Morrison, 'it's just the gypsie in my soul' that will make this exciting for me. God knows I love a good adventure! Wish us Luck! :)
